A little DIY - Brush Guard

Hey everyone,

Today I have a little DIY for you. It’s about how to make your own brush guard.
Okay so I use a brush guard after cleaning my brushes, so the bristles get in form and the brushes last longer. And this is how you can make the brush guard.

Okay first you need a piece of cloth, I think the best is when it’s cloth with stretch/ elastic. You can use an old jeans or other old clothes.

You cut out a piece that is a bit wider than your brush, about half a centimeter to a centimeter. Lengthwise the cloth should be about 0,5-1 cm over the bristles and also on the handle.

After that you put your brush in the middle of the cloth and fold it over. Then you mark the point on the cloth that is the closest to the brush.

Then you take a stapler and use it on the point you marked before. After that you test if it’s too tight or too wide. If it’ too wide put in another staple, but really close to the first. If it’s too tight you can just remove it. If you don't have a stapler or don't want to use is you can also use needle and thread, which will take a little longer, but will work just as well ;)

This is a quick and easy way to make a brush guard if the bristles of your brush are bent.

I hope it will help you

Have a great day everyone!!

Autumn Nail Design

Hey guys,

today I have a naildesign for you, which I think is really nice for autumn and is also easy so even if you should be a beginner at naildesign you should be able to do it ;)

Here a picture of all the products I used (all products are mentioned in the text):

So first you have to remove your nail polish if you still wear some, if not just clean them so you don’t have any oil or dust or anything on them. Having them cleaned is for me pretty important, because it helps prevent to have little lumps in your nail polish or these little air bubbles.

After having them cleaned put on a base coat to protect your own nails. I really like the one from Manhattan. Let it dry really well before applying the next polish, but base coats usually dry really quick.

Afterward you put on the next colour. In my case it was the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear in 48 Mocha Mix. Put it all over your nail with one or two coats, depending on how opaque your nail polish is. I would advise to make it opaque on your nails, because opaque colours just look better in autumn and winter.

After this new coat has dried, it doesn’t have to be perfectly dry. You add the next colour which goes diagonally over the front of the nail and covers the tip, so it has the shape of a long triangle. I used the essence colour&go in 112 time for romance. To do this I used a thin nail art brush (I uesd the nail art brushes from cheeky, available on Amazon), which is usually used for thin lines. Another brush which could be used is an angled brush (but don't get one that is too expensiv, becaue over time the bristles tend to get hard and break), which can help with a straight line. If you don’t feel comfortable with thin or other brushes at all, you can use some tape. But I haven’t found a good one for me yet, I usually rip some of the nail polish I already applied off when I try to remove the tape.

If you want you can leave it like that, which is perfectly fine. But I wanted to add another colour so I made a golden line which separated the two other coloures because they are really similar and I think it makes the essence colour pop a bit more. The golden line can also help to hide any mistake made with the second colour. My golden colour is a mix of two. First I wanted to use the gold-glittery one from my new nail polish colour palette which I posted a pic of on my Instagram. But after I put it on my plate, which I use for mixing or when I need my finer brushes (so I don’t have to put the brush in the nail polish bottle) I saw that it was a clear polish with some small glitter pieces in it. So I added another gold colour from  Laura Beauty in 460 gold nugget.

When you have all the coloures you want on your nails let them dry well then apply the top coat to protect your nail design. If you painted a bit over your nail just remove it with a cotton bud or a a pen to remove nail polish, I used the one from p2. And when all is dried your done :D

Here again the finished result:

Hope you like the design

Bad Products

Hey Guys,

I’m sorry haven’t written in such a long time but quite a few things that happened, like writing some homeworks, I was on holiday where I didn’t have any internet access, I got ill and so forth. But I will try to keep posting on a regular base from now, promise ;)

Today I have a few cosmetic products for you which I bought some time ago for the first time. All the products are those I don’t like or didn’t work for me, of course they might work perfectly for you :D
The first two products I want to tell you about are from Catrice Cosmetics. Both are primers, one is the Prime and Fine Smoothing Refiner and the other is the Prime and Fine Illuminating Base. Before I talk about the product I just want to tell you shortly what my skin is like so you guys get a better picture. I have a normal to oily skin, but my T-zone tends to get reeaaally oily over time the outer parts don’t get as oily, I would say they are normal oily ;).I also have rather large pores, especially on my nose and the surrounding areas. With that skin I usually have problems with foundation staying on and the foundation creeps into the pores and then I have little dots of foundation left on my face and I hate that.

So I bought these two products. The Smoothing Refiner comes in a small glass pot and has a creamy consistency like the paint pots by MAC, the primer is a bit softer and has a light pinkish colour. On the fingers the product feels rather nice but on the skin it felt like I had a thin layer of soft wax and I could feel it all day on my skin. And you shouldn’t feel a primer at all, not when you put it on or while wearing it. Another problem I had was that my make-up and foundation moved and vanished way faster than usual and that did happen every time I used this primer. I had the same problem with the Illuminating Base. The Base comes in a tube and it doesn’t feel waxy which is nice but you can still feel it on your skin and it didn’t illuminate my skin. Actually it didn’t do anything for me besides making my make-up vanish faster and making my skin oilier.

Two other products that didn’t work for me are mascaras from essence. One was the I <3 Extreme Volume Mascara and the other the All Eyes On Me Multi-Effect Mascara. They don’t make my lashes longer, thicker or gives them more volume. That is actually no problem for me because I like my lashes the way they are I only want them to get more black because mine are a bit light. What made me dislike them is that the mascara got transferred under my eyes and that really quick. And I expect of mascara to stay on my lashes and not to transfer everywhere, and I guess you guys do too ;)

The last product is a Gel Eyeliner in brown by Rival de Loop Young, it has the same consistency as other gel eyeliners. I really liked the colour but like the other products it didn’t last on me long. The eyeliner didn’t last on me for even an hour, so I was really disappointed.

These are all the products for now, I hope you found this a little helpful.

I wish you all a great rest weekend;)

Pasta With Mushrooms

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven’t written anything the last few weeks but I have to write some papers I have to hand in, so I didn’t have the time to write but I thought I really have to write something!! And I will try to keep writing more regular with less time in between the posts :D.  So today I will give you a recipe, which I love. It’s pasta with a mushroom sauce. I came up with it when my roomie bought chanterelles, which she wanted to make for her boyfriend or something like that.

Okay so the ingredients I used (for two persons so if you are cooking for yourself you can freeze one portion) :

-        -  Different herbs like rosemary 1,5 branch , thyme 2 or 3, oregano about 1 branch you can also use     others like sage, which is great with mushrooms
-
          - 1 Onion or 2 shallots and 1 or 2 garlic
-
          - Button mushrooms and chanterelles each I guess 150g maybe a bit less or more depending on your hunger
-
          - 6 or 7 Fresh cherry tomatoes
-
           - Some cream or milk to create a sauce
-
           - And some Parma ham or some other ham you like, about 2 or 3 slices
-
       - And of course some oil or butter for frying and the pasta

First of all, heat the oil or butter whatever you use up. When it’s hot add the fine diced onion/shallot and the garlic with 2/3 of the herbs and fry them. Add the ham and after about half a minute add the mushrooms (a little tip: use a big pan for the mushrooms because if it is too small, you will probably cook them in the water they will lose and not fry them). Add the rest of the herbs and the milk or cream, whatever you prefer or mix both. In the meantime don’t forget to cook your pasta!! Add the tomatoes about 2 or 3 minutes before your pasta is done, because if you add them too soon they will fall apart and get super soft, which I don’t like.

At the  end I like to add some parmesan cheese but that is totally optional:D

My pasta is selfmade as you can see on one of the pictures and if you want the rescipe just write me in the comments:D

Have a great day everyone !!!
